Are you a career woman, mother, wife and more all rolled into one person? Can you afford the time every day to think about eating healthy? With the new trend of the prepackaged diet you can! Now you can have fresh and healthy meals delivered to your door! This definitely takes the indecision out of meal planning!
The idea started with Lean Cuisine who teamed up with Weight Watchers and produced prepackaged frozen foods with a calorie count indicated on the packaging. Although it is easy to buy other frozen prepackaged foods that you can toss into a microwave or oven to eat in a few minutes knowing that you’re not “cheating” with your calories, it may not be very healthy! The meal itself is low in calories but they can contain excessive amounts of sodium, fructose corn syrup, modified ingredients and food coloring so they leave you feeling unsatisfied and you may resort to snacking.
Fresh pre-packaged food providers solve the problem for the career mom who wants to deliver healthy foods to her family but does not have the time available to prepare the meal, or doesn’t know how to cook a Martha Stewart gourmet dinner.
How does it work? Companies like Diet-To-Go, Freshology and Fresh-n-Fit Cuisine offer freshly prepared meals delivered to your door in their local area. Others like My Fit Foods or Snap Kitchen prepare fresh meals which you collect on your way home. These options are never frozen and therefore do not contain any of the preservatives which are necessary to keep frozen foods fresh. Some of these companies even claim to be able to “reset your metabolism” as your body becomes trained to process food quicker than it has before.
Although these companies do not use excessive amounts of sodium, fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners, their services are rather expensive. Freshology, which is one of the companies a few celebrities use, charge approximately $45.00 per day whilst Diet-To-Go is about $158.00 for a week. This is even more expensive than organic!
It is probably cheaper to prepare the food yourself, but if you have a very tight time management system and could spare the cash, then one of these options even once per day would be a much better option to fast foods or frozen prepackaged meals.
